CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST:

TREASURER OF THE BOARD
AFRICAN SOLUTIONS FOUNDATION (ASAP)
INVITATION TO SERVE AS TREASURER FOR ASAP

African Solution to African Problems (ASAP) was originally established in 2003, as a Trust, to serve communities with high numbers of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), devastated by the effects of HIV/AIDS in the most isolated, under-resourced areas of KwaZulu Natal and Eastern Cape.

ASAP recognises the importance of mobilising communities to find their strengths and assets and to leverage these to create sustainable solutions from within. Proactive women working for positive change in their marginalised communities are identified and supported with a six-year partnership. The aim is to develop robust Community Based Organisations (CBOs) that are able to sustainably support their OVC and address other areas of need in their communities.

As part of its holistic approach, ASAP also provide for OVCs basic needs, youth development, food garden development and infrastructure where needed. Whole communities are uplifted and the Assets Based Community Development process ensures the CBO’s can continue their work independently and indefinitely after the six-year development partnership.

Candidates must be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the duties of a Board Member voluntarily and be committed to the aims of ASAP.

  • Board level experience
  • Integrity, strategic vision and proven leadership skills, coupled with good independent judgement are important qualities to possess.
  • Solid understanding of legal responsibilities and liabilities of a board member are nonnegotiable with respect to ensuring governance and compliance
  • Sound Financial and Business acumen is a must, as is experience of the NPO sector in South Africa
  • Knowledge and experience of the Development sector would be a bonus

The Board of ASAP is a working board and lends support to building the capacity of the organisation and growing its programme services and meets quarterly on Zoom teleconference software.

Interested candidates must submit a motivation letter and CV to info@africansolutions.org
