ASAP’s field team attended Footsteps International’s Development Processes facilitation. The team were delighted to deepen their understanding of the facilitation framework, especially the difference between training and facilitating. We look forward to going out in the field and implement lessons learnt.
The recent attacks of femicide and gender-based violence that sparked nation-wide protests, has us
all so much more aware of the need for all people, on all levels of society, to take action and protect
our vulnerable members. From government taking notice and our president declaring gender-based
violence a national emergency, to the work the ASAP team and CBOs do every day out in our
remotest areas, we are uniting to make the much-needed changes.
We recognise the Mount Fletcher Magistrates Court for ensuring the imprisonment of a 36-year-old man
who raped a 14-year-old girl from one of our beneficiary communities. Our Child Care Coordinator
was there with her, every step of the way. She continues to provide psycho-social support for the girl
and her family whilst also pursuing justice for three other young girls in separate cases.
The state of our nation calls for grassroots workers to continue to fight against gender-based
violence.
