Mission: ASAP aims to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS
on Orphans & Vulnerable children in South Africa by building the capacity
of our partner Community Based Organisations.
Strategy: ASAP
regards these Community Based Organisations as strategic partners in the HIV/AIDS epidemic, in
our effort to provide sustainable care for Orphans & Vulnerable children
through nutrition, education, medical and emotional support.
We believe the best strategies come from the communities themselves and the women who have responded voluntarily to the crisis of AIDS orphans. We support and promote the effective programmes that they have developed. ASAP recognizes a responsibility to help these groups develop their solutions slowly, from the ground up.
Through the collaborative administration of incremental grants, ASAP
ensures accountability by training in basic accounting skills and monitoring
and evaluation techniques. These Community Based Organisations and their
network of women are scaling up and replicating their holistic models of care
in the face of ever-increasing numbers of orphans & vulnerable children.
Empowerment: ASAP equips women in neglected rural areas with the technical skills they need to realize their dreams.
ASAP empowers women by providing them with opportunities to learn from the expertise and experiences of one another, using the intellectual resources of our CBO partners and indigenous teachers and facilitators.
Intervention: Sustainable development begins with people and the realization of their own ideas.
ASAP believes that any change and intervention must stand in organic relationship to what the people on the ground are already doing. By linking Community Based Organisations with local government agencies, we are helping to secure sustainable resources for the future of these rural communities. Because of their close proximity to villages and households, this vast network of women and their existing infrastructure provide a valuable entry point into communities that are often not reached by the mainstream HIV/AIDS programmes.
ASAP supports orphans and vulnerable children by strengthening the extended family and support structures through community based intervention. |
